And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.
요셉이 그의 청지기에게 명하여 이르되, 양식을 각자의 자루에 실을 수 있을 만큼 채우고 각 사람의 돈을 그의 자루 아귀에 넣고

And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.
또 내 잔 곧 은잔을 그 청년의 자루 아귀에 넣고 그 양식 값 돈도 함께 넣으라 하매 그가 요셉이 명령한 대로 하고

As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.

And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?

And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words. And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:
청지기가 그들에게 따라가서 그대로 말하매 그들이 그에게 대답하되, 내 주여 어찌 이렇게 말씀하시나이까 종들은 이런 일은 결단코 아니하나이다

Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?
우리 자루에서 발견된 돈도 우리가 가나안 땅에서부터 당신에게로 가져왔거늘 우리가 어찌 당신 주인의 집에서 은이나 금을 도둑질하리이까

With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.
당신의 종들 중 누구에게서 발견되든지 그는 죽을 것이요 우리는 내 주의 종들이 되리이다

And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.
그가 이르되, 그러면 너희 말과 같이 하리라 그것이 누구에게서든지 발견되면 그는 내 종이 될 것이요 너희는 죄가 없으리라

Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack. And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
그들이 각각 급히 자루를 땅에 내려놓고 자루를 각기 여니 그가 나이 많은 자로부터 시작하여 나이 적은 자에게까지 조사하매 그 잔이 베냐민의 자루에서 발견된지라

Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.
그들이 옷을 찢고 각기 짐을 나귀에 싣고 성으로 돌아오니라

And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
유다와 그의 형제들이 요셉의 집에 이르니 요셉이 아직 그 곳에 있는지라 그들이 그의 앞에서 땅에 엎드리니

And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?
요셉이 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 어찌하여 이런 일을 행하였느냐 나 같은 사람이 반드시 점치는 줄을 너희는 알지 못하였느냐

And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
유다가 이르되, 우리가 내 주께 무슨 말을 하오리이까 무슨 설명을 하오리이까 어떻게 우리의 정직함을 나타내리이까 하나님이 종들의 죄악을 찾아내셨으니 우리와 이 잔이 발견된 자가 다 내 주의 종들이 되겠나이다

And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
요셉이 이르되, 내가 결코 그리하지 아니하리라 잔이 그 손에서 발견된 자만 내 종이 되고 너희는 평안히 너희 아버지께로 도로 올라갈 것이니라

[Bridge — Judah's Approach]

Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.
유다가 그에게 가까이 가서 이르되, 내 주여 청하건대 종에게 내 주의 귀에 한 말씀을 아뢰게 하소서 주의 종에게 노하지 마소서 주는 바로와 같으심이니이다

My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother? And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.
이전에 내 주께서 종들에게 물으시되 너희에게 아버지나 형제가 있느냐 하시기에 우리가 내 주께 아뢰되, 우리에게 아버지가 있으니 노인이요 그가 노년에 얻은 아들 청년이 있으니 그의 형은 죽고 그의 어머니가 남긴 것은 그뿐이므로 그의 아버지가 그를 사랑하나이다 하였더니

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him. And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.
주께서 또 종들에게 이르시되 그를 내게로 데리고 내려와서 내가 그를 보게 하라 하시기로 우리가 내 주께 아뢰되, 그 아이는 그의 아버지를 떠나지 못할지니 떠나면 그의 아버지가 죽겠나이다

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
주께서 또 주의 종들에게 이르시되, 너희 막내 아우가 너희와 함께 내려오지 아니하면 너희가 다시 내 얼굴을 보지 못하리라 하시기로

[Bridge — The Father's Grief]

And thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons: And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:
주의 종 우리 아버지가 우리에게 이르되, 너희도 알거니와 내 아내가 내게 두 아들을 낳았으나 하나는 내게서 나가매 내가 말하기를 틀림없이 찢겨 죽었다 하고 내가 지금까지 그를 보지 못하거늘

And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
너희가 이 아이도 내게서 데려가려 하니 만일 재해가 그 몸에 미치면 나의 흰 머리로 슬피 스올로 내려가게 하리라 하니

[Verse 7]

Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life; It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die.
아버지의 생명과 아이의 생명이 서로 하나로 묶여 있사온즉 이제 내가 주의 종 우리 아버지에게 이르렀을 때에 아이가 우리와 함께 있지 아니하면 아버지가 아이의 없음을 보고 죽으리니

For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.
주의 종이 내 아버지에게 아이를 담보하기를 내가 그를 아버지께 데려오지 아니하면 영원히 아버지께 죄를 지리이다 하였사오니
